CAVU
- Ceiling And Visibility Unlimited
My start in show dogs was with Afghan
Hounds in the mid seventies. I had the pleasure of meeting and becoming
friends with Betsy Hufnagel,
the force
behind CAVU Afghan Hounds. I had long admired and followed the Tibetan
Terrier breed and when it was time for me to downsize from big hairy
dogs to little hairy dogs, Betsy graciously allowed me to share her
CAVU kennel
name for my Tibetan Terriers.
I live within the city limits of Woodland, California so I am limited
to the number of dogs I can house. I usually only have 1 or 2 litters
a year,
breeding my dogs only after they have finished their AKC conformation
championship and received OFA & CERF certification. When I do breed
a litter, I consider temperament and health to be as important as conforming
to breed
type as dictated by the breed standard.
Puppies are raised in the kitchen with all the comings and goings of
a normal household to better prepare them for their forever homes.
After
the littermates are gone to new homes my puppy will sleep in a crate
on the bed to avoid feeling abandoned as well as to crate and house
train. All
adult dogs get house time and sleep in the house at night. We do a
rotation so everyone gets their turn to sleep on the bed.
